Lorin Gregory Medeiros, 70, affectionately known as "PAPA" passed away on January 17, 2024 at his home in Reno, NV after battling a stroke suffered in October, 2023.

Lorin was born in Fremont, CA on March 12, 1953 to Herman and Beverly Medeiros, his grandfather and Grandmother were Larry and Mamie (Sanack) Medeiros of Ellsworth St. in Mission San Jose, CA.

In 1968 Lorin became Demoley Jr, Counselor. He was a member of Alameda Lodge No.167 in Fremont. In 1971 Lorin Graduated from Mission San Jose High School in Fremont. He then went to become the youngest reserve officer with the City of Fremont Police Dept and served till late 1970's.

Lorin was the Ultimate Salesman. He went to work for the House of Sobel Liquor Co. in San Francisco where he received Salesman of the Year Awards from Hiram Walker and for Old Grand Dad. He enjoyed teaching restaurant wait staff proper wines and developing menus the most.

Lorin's Grandfather, Larry Medeiros, built a cabin on Buckeye Dr. off San Lorenzo Ave. in Felton, CA in 1942 which was old after he passed away. Bev and Herm parked a Trailer at Smithwood RV Park in Felton for weekends. Lorin and Jill soon followed with a trailer. They loved it so much, with Matt and Annette in 1987 they moved to Felton, CA.

In 1994 he started Coast Graphics, HWY 9 in Felton, CA. Within a few years of getting the Print Shop running, in 1997, he became President of the San Lorenzo Valley Chamber of Commerce for 3 terms. He helped the Felton Business Association revive "Light up the Valley" finally and got 1st place in 2001 after a 2nd and a 3rd. On Halloween you could always grab a bag of popcorn in front of Coast Graphics. May of 2000, he held the 1st Chili Cook-off at the Grocery Outlet in Felton which was won by the Ghost Mountain Riders. He worked hard to get the pool at SLV High, skate park in Ben Lomond, the stop the relocation of SLV High School to name a few things.

In 1997 Coast Graphics became Business of the Year. As the Santa Cruz Sentinel Wrote "Owned by Lorin and Jill Medeiros, the Felton business regularly steps up to help non-profit organizations with their printing and publicity. "It's just a wonderful community," said Lorin Medeiros, who has been a part of the valley since 1960. Countless non-profit groups have turned to Coast Graphics for help with newsletters and fliers. The business has developed a reputation of working within the limited budgets of the different programs."

In addition, it wasn't unusual to see Lorin late at night cleaning local businesses with Coast Janitorial. 2001 he bought River Bends Craft which became Felton Copies and More, ran by Jill and their daughter Annette.

His real joy was working with kids. He became Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for all 3 of his sons. Starting in Fremont, later in Felton, serving 25 Years as a Leader with the Boy Scouts of America. In Felton he ran the yearly day camp at Camp Towaba in Boulder Creek, CA. In 2002, he received an Outstanding Service and Dedication Award from the Boy Scouts of America for his work at Camp Towaba. Every year at the Memorial Day Felton Remembers Parade and Covered Bridge Festival, you would find Lorin's Pack of Troop in the front to Raise the Colors.

As the kids got older Lorin and Jill were able to return to riding a motorcycle. After going to events in Hollister, CA, Sturgis S.D. and Streets Vibrations in Reno, NV Lorin decided Felton was really missing out. In conjunction with Roaring Camp and Thunder Press, Scotts Valley Sept 12th + 13th 1998 "Ground Level Thunder" came to the Valley and was a roaring success. His Boy Scout Troop #613 helped park motorcycles at Roaring Camp, many said the best weekend of their young lives. Events were held at the Felton Community Hall, everyone had fun.

In 2005 he moved to Reno, NV after buying property during Streets Vibrations. For a short time, he continued the printing but in 2009 he bought Jerry's Mobile Steam later Full Steam Carpet Company for many years. After selling the company he attempted to retire. But anyone that knew Lorin knew that was impossible. He went to work as a Security Consultant at the Harry Reed National Guard in Stead, NV for 7 Years.

He's true love in life was being a "PAPA" to his 8 grandchildren. They were always at his side doing or going somewhere.

Lorin will be deeply missed by his wife Jill, his daughter Annette (Robert) Smith, his sons Matthew (Nicole) Medeiros, Correy Medeiros and Jesse (Kacey) Medeiros, his sister Cynthia Swafford. Along with numerous nieces and nephews and friends. But especially by his 8 grandchildren he was "Papa" to.

We are comforted knowing he is at peace with his mom, dad and family in heaven.

He will be put to rest at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with his mom and dad in a private ceremony. Jill and the family would like to thank you for your sympathy and love during this difficult time.
