Obituary For Anna Romero

Anna Romero passed away on January 10th, at the age of 92. She is survived by her Sons Perry Romero and his Wife Renee, Richard Romero and his Wife Eva. Also survived by her Grandchildren Christopher, Spencer, Pierce, Anne, Kate, and Great Grandchildren Peyton, Levi, Kailer, Miles, Chase, and Grace. Anna was the last to survive from a family of 11 siblings Manuel, Mary, Angelina, Martin, John, Jack, Joe Jr., Anna, Charles, Gabriel, and Dolores.

Anna Marie was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 20th, 1931 to mother Rose and father Joseph Francis. The family moved to Oakland, California in her early teens where she attended Castlemont High School until she started working at the Oakland Cannery at age 14. She met and married Arsenio Romero around 1950. Anna and Arsenio (Archie) loved to dance and that is how they met. They lived with Joseph and Rose a short time then bought a house in Oakland. While there they had two sons Ronnie and Perry.

Early in their marriage Anna traveled with Arsenio to New Mexico and was loved by the Romero family. Those family relationships have lasted throughout her life. Francis or Romero made no difference, Anna loved all the family. In 1963 they bought the home in Niles where Richard was later born. She loved living in the town of Niles. Anna was a member of Corpus Christi Church and always had faith in God.

She loved to attend Portuguese picnics and events into her middle ages. Anna loved to cook and was passionate about baking family members favorite cakes on their Birthdays. She loved to travel, visited Portugal, and made several trips to Europe touring different countries.

Anna loved going to Disneyland. She made it a priority to take sons, then Grandsons there, and also liked to take her sons to Santa Cruz. She would drive there in her Thunderbird. After 3 Sons and 3 Grandsons Anna was overjoyed when her Granddaughters Anne and later Kate were born. By then it was harder to go on longer trips so she enjoyed taking them to Sulpher Creek, the movies, and shopping.

Anna had all her sons sign up for Niles Centerville Little League Baseball and it became a life long passion for the family. She was always there to support and encourage her Sons, Grandsons, and first born Great Grandson. She continued to love baseball and the community of friends she met.

She worked for Costco for about 15 years meeting many friends. Anna enjoyed being with the Red Hat Group and meeting at Dino's for breakfast. She always loved to attend Birthdays and other occasions and celebrations with family and friends at Scoma's, Spenger's, Bancheroe's, La Casita, El Patio, Olive Garden and many other restaurants.

Anna Romero was a proud and loving Portuguese American woman who was always there for family and friends. Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Godmother, Aunt, and Friend who will be missed and forever in our hearts.

Ricky and Perry: I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. May she rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Life will never be the same but, the beautiful memories you made together will live on forever. I loved my Auntie Anna! She was such a beautiful lady inside and out. I fondly remember all the times your family came to visit in New Mexico. I enjoyed the vacations we took together with my Mom (Carmen) and the times we spent together in San Francisco or when she warmly welcomed us in to her home; we always had such a great time! She was so gracious, compassionate, generous, and kind. In her gifts, cards, letters, or phone calls she also remembered my mom, my dad, Leroy, my brother, Bud, and my nephew, Abel. I'll miss our phone conversations too. She loved her family so much and was so proud of you. May God give you and your families peace and strength during this difficult time. God bless you. I love you. Your cousin, Geneva (Gene) - Matthew 5:4. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. - Psalm 23:4 "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." - Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

I am so sorry to hear of Anna passing! When I think of her I remember her visiting Boston and the family having a reunion at my mother's house along with her mother and father and Dolores. Also remember my visits when I went to Ca and invited in for a meal and sharing memories of family when they visited. She was an angel!
