Obituary For Edward Diep

Edward Diep was born on December 10th, 1948 to Thoai Luong Diep and Thi Nhung Từ in Tra Vinh, Vietnam. From the young age of 10, he was educated at the French Catholic boarding school of Lasan Tabert. He found math to be his strength, and subsequently studied business management in Da Lat, Vietnam. In 1974, Edward left Vietnam for San Francisco, California, where he continued his studies at San Francisco State University. After he graduated, he found a job at the City of San Jose, where he established a career as an accountant for twenty years.

Edward met Lan Thuy Nguyen in 1998 when she visited America during an Academy of Ophthalmology conference, and married her in Vietnam a year later. After their wedding, they found their home in Fremont, California, and had two daughters. In 2007, Edward decided to retire in order to be able to spend more time with his children.

Edward loved to travel, enjoying his visits to destinations around the world. He developed a fondness for Florida later on in life, where he often brought his family on vacations. He also had a passion for tennis, continuing to play throughout his life and teaching the game to his two children. Edward had a great appreciation for nature and the outdoors, choosing to spend much of his time playing tennis or taking long walks at the park, often bringing along his wife and daughters.

Edward’s kindness and good sense of humor were traits that he maintained throughout his entire life and instilled within his children. His presence will be sorely missed. He leaves behind his love and knowledge with two daughters, Amy and Cathy, as well as his loving wife, Lan Diep.
