Obituary For Benjamin “Benjie” Rivera

Benjamin Valdez Rivera (Benjie) was granted his angel wings on January 2021. He was born in Baguio City, Philippines and graduated with an Electrical Communications Engineering degree from Saint Louis University (Philippines). Benjie is survived by his mother, Norlita (Erma) Rivera; brothers, Joseph and Romeo Jr; sisters Joie and Romalyn; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who all adored him. He was preceded in death by his father, Romeo Rivera Sr., and baby sister, Maria. With his true grit, determination and a college degree in his back pocket, he headed to Singapore and eventually landed in the States a few years later to pursue his dreams. Benjie's career as a Field Service Engineer allowed him to travel the world many times over. He was an avid golfer, skier, and member of a Dart Club in Fremont, CA. Benjie was a son, brother, nephew, cousin, and most of all a true friend to those whose lives he touched. His "kid at heart" attitude was always ready and willing to help anyone at a moment's notice...the kind and thoughtful person who would take the shirt off his back and offer it to anyone in need. He leaves a void in many hearts, but his spirit lives on within his family and friends. We will miss his laughter and silly jokes. We will miss his laid back presence. Rest in peace Tito Benjie. Benjie is a wonderful person. Smart, caring, helpful and joyful to be around with. As a friend, he never say no if I needed any help including moving my home back in those old days. At work, he is an indispensable member. In many occasions, I received feedback from business customers and associates of his excellent service and support, as well as friendly character. He will be missed by everyone who knows him. My deepest sympathy to the Rivera family and friends. Rest In Peace, Benjie.

Benji has always been consistent in his demeanor, a Cheerful, Happy and funny guy who does not complain in any situation. He is such a willing participant in any event when asked. He has never said No, but merrily goes as requested. What a guy. The memory I have of him, is his Smile and great attitude. He will be missed for sure. I am grateful that he came into my life for the period we were at STICA, and the times we met after. To his mom, Erma, sisters and brothers, I pray that God will cover you with his great wings of Love, and May you all be comforted with the beautiful memories of Benjie.

As i rekindle my thoughts benjie is a subtle man of valor;I characterized him a person so meek and humble of heart in his relationship with his parents, siblimgs and valued friends.Being a close auntie,i knew him by virtue of great love in his heart, dedication to his work, commitment and responsibilities. His amazing interrelationship with his co workers and friends in different walks of life made him so loved by many;a jolly and glorious individual indeed!, Oh yes...once you see him around finds us,never a dull moment.I salute him for his generosityWe always have that feeling of joy and happiness bonding with him. We utmost feel alive. my family and children are enjoined with your bereaved family during this deep sorrow of our loss. You are now in peace...no more pain...discomfort.Benjie you will be forever be in our hearts, memories with much love with our fervent prayers. In the mercy and love of our loving Lord God almighty.RIP. Benjie and I have worked together at Texas Instruments (Phil) but not much encounter & closer than when we crossed paths again here in the US, this time for some fun outside our busy work lives, playing darts together with new found friends we belong, a forged family away from our families back home. His darting signature looks, seemingly calculating along with those engineered shoots when he played, was a snap reflection of the good person he was. His sudden demise, knowing we'll never see him again makes us grieve but we turn to those memories of the "Always Happy Ben" we've known for our comfort and treasure them in our hearts.

Reminiscing the childhood days that we have spent with our cousin Benjie, we remember one of the kindest, most gentle and quite good older cousin who warmly mingles with us during family reunions. It is with an abyss of mourning for his early resting, but consoled for the fact that he will be in God's loving arms right now with our departed loved ones. Our condolences to his family, Aunt Erma, siblings and dear friends.
