Obituary For Steven C. Foster
In cherished remembrance of Steven C. Foster, our hearts are laden as we share he passed away on January 11th, 2024.
Steve, a man who strove to be good, kind, and honest, wore many hats in his lifetime. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a humorous father-in-law, a cherished son, a beloved brother, a doting uncle, a warm cousin, and a loyal friend. To many, he was also a coach and a mentor, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. A lifelong LSU Tiger football fan and an Oakland A's enthusiast since the 60s, his passion for sports was as enduring as his spirit.
Born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1942, Steve was raised in Louisiana, New York, Dallas, and Heidelberg, Germany. In 1963, he married his Texas, teenage sweetheart, and together they established their home in the vibrant SF Bay Area, where they planted roots in Fremont and nurtured a loving family. He enjoyed his 40+ years career at PG&E as a backhoe operator and loved the comadre and friendship of “the crew“ even more.
Steve's heart overflowed with concern for family, friends, neighbors, the underprivileged, and all creatures, big and small. He never met a dog or cat he didn’t want to pet, play with, or bring home.
To commemorate Steve's life, a mass will be held on Friday, January 26th, 11am at Holy Spirit Church in Fremont, followed by a small celebration of his life afterwards. As we gather to remember and honor Steve, let us cherish what he brought into our lives and the legacy he leaves behind.
